Walk In Other People’s Shoes

December 18, 2013

Last week I had a powerful and illuminating experience when my wife Michelle was away for the whole week.  I got to spend time with my girls and solo parent which was fun, challenging, beautiful, interesting, and a great exercise in walking in someone else’s shoes – which allowed me to have an even deeper level of appreciation for Michelle.

In this week’s video message, I talk about my experience from last week and also look at the importance of us being able to “walk in other people’s shoes” (literally or figuratively) and how it can allow us to understand and appreciate them (and ourselves) in an even deeper way.

Feel free to leave a comment about how it relates to you (or any questions you have) here on my blog.

Do What Works For You

December 12, 2013

In the spirit of “doing what works for me” I decided to record my very first video blog post (aka vlog) and instead of writing an actual article, I spoke this week’s message to the camera.  I hope you like it and enjoy hearing from me this way, which may be something I do more of in the future.

This video message is all about making things easier and doing what works for us, instead of struggling, suffering, and stressing ourselves out (often unnecessarily).

Feel free to leave a comment here on my blog and let me know what you think both of the message itself (and how it relates to you) and also what you think about video messages in general (i.e. would you like to see more of them from me, ideas for topics, questions you have, etc.)

My New TEDx Talk – The Power of Appreciation

107November 26, 2013

I hope you’re doing well and getting excited about the holiday season!  With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us here in the U.S., I’m focused this week on the many blessings in my life. One of the specific things I’m grateful for is being able to connect with you.  Thank you for your interest in and support of me and my work.

I recently gave another TEDx talk.  This new one is on The Power of Appreciation.  I wanted to share the video of the talk with you in case you haven’t seen it yet, for two main reasons.  First of all, because I think you’ll enjoy it and get some good stuff out of it – especially as we enter the holiday season.  And, second of all, because if you feel moved to do so, I’d be honored and grateful if you shared it with others… via email, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn etc. 🙂

The talk is 18 minutes long (in standard TED format) and focuses on the importance of feeling and expressing appreciation – at home, at work, and in life.  I share some stories, ideas, and perspectives about this important subject – something, as you know, I’ve been passionate about for many years.

I hope you enjoy this talk and it helps remind you of all the people and things in your life you appreciate (even the ones which you find challenging.)

And, if you’d like to share the video of this talk, you can simply forward this link or this email to others.  And, if you’d like to post it on social media, here are two samples you can use or edit:
